Strengthening Partnerships for Returnee Wellbeing: VluchtelingenWerk Nederland Visits PCI Lagos Office

November 4, 2024, Patriotic Citizen Initiatives (PCI) hosted two delegates from VluchtelingenWerk Nederland at their Lagos office. This visit marks a significant milestone in their collaboration, aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of returnees and refining the reintegration process.


Patriotic Citizen Initiatives (PCI), a Non governmental organization focuses on migration, reintegration, and anti-human trafficking, has been in partnership with VluchtelingenWerk Nederland for two years. Together, they have successfully supported the return and reintegration of 12 Nigerian individuals, including a family of four.


The visit focused on knowledge sharing and capacity building to improve procedures in both Nigeria and the Netherlands.

Key areas of discussion included:


  • Procedures and Quality Frameworks: Reviewing and refining existing protocols to ensure effective reintegration assistance.

  • Reintegration Assistance Templates: Developing standardized tools to facilitate smoother reintegration processes.

  • Nigerian State Actors and ERSO Networks: Exploring partnerships with local and European organizations involved in migration, return, and reintegration.


The delegates from VluchtelingenWerk Nederland expressed gratitude for PCI's warm welcome and exceptional work. They specifically commended PCI's:

  • Timely submissions of returnee reports
